Operating system:
Our software is Windows only. We currently support Windows 10 & 11. All older versions of windows are NOT supported and not recommended. We have tested our software on Apple computers running Windows 10 in BootCamp successfully. Our software is not tested on any virtual machine software (for example, Parallels), and as such, we do not guarantee any compatibility.

Processor:
Faster is better, laptop i9 Intel processors are ideal.

Memory:
Windows 10 & 11 requires 5GB alone, and in our experience, struggles with 8GB. 16-32GB will help your operating system and software have the memory they need.

Storage:
A 1 Tb SSD (Solid State Drive) will provide for a fast computer, as well as ease in recording neurofeedback data in real-time with no worries about hiccups. A 2 Tb SSD provides for plenty of space.

Monitor Resolution:
Our software is designed to work on monitors with a resolution of 1920x1080 or 1920x1200. A lower resolution than this will result in some parts of the program being cut off at the bottom of the screen. Higher resolution than this results in very small text, and as windows scaling doesn't work with NeuroField64, we recommend avoiding QHD (2880x1440) or UHD (3840x2160) displays.

Graphics Card:
For EEG, visual feedback, and multiple monitors, you need a more powerful graphics card to prevent any slowdown in responsiveness, for neurostimulation only, the graphics card is not as vital.

Machines Below Minimum Specifications:
If you have a machine and it does not meet our minimum specs, you can install our software and try it out, it may work, but our support for machines below our minimum spec is limited, and if you run into issues on a machine that does not meet our minimums, it is highly possible that we will not be able to help.

Known compatibility issues:

  • 15-16Hz noise contamination in neurofeedback data. Laptops with ungrounded power supplies (ie. 2 prong) produce high levels of EMF noise in the 15-16Hz band. We recommend avoiding ungrounded laptop power supplies, but when the only option is using an ungrounded laptop to collect data, keep a minimum safe distance of eight (8) feet from the neurofeedback amplifier, cap, and subject to minimize noise intrusion.

Known Fix: Use a grounded power supply

  • 50Hz noise contamination in neurofeedback amplifier. When collecting neurofeedback data in countries with 50Hz power supply, please make sure to adjust the notch filter in software to eliminate power line noise.

Known Fix: Adjust notch filter from 60Hz to 50Hz

  • Laptops will most likely experience a slowdown when not plugged in to power, especially when running neurofeedback. The system disables the main GPU when on battery to save power.

Known fix: connect laptop to charger

  • August 2016 - HP Envy Desktop USB controller may cause crashing with the CANBus adapter connected when the machine goes to sleep.

Known fix: add USB card (pci express expansion card) and connect CANBus through USB card.
